Description :
The Chapman text is fairly easily read and there are a number of concrete examples in each chapter which illustrate the programming concepts.

There are numerous tips and suggestions given in the Chapman text. It's very good at illustrating the concepts of programming especially through the use of examples which demonstrate the output from the programs.

The homework exercises are plentiful and cover a range of difficulty. I like very much that plotting is interspersed throughout the book providing a break that students can enjoy in the middle of material that can often be seen as dry. The quizzes are also great. My students use them to verify their understanding of the sections in which they appear.

While reviewing this book I would simply pick up the book and read it, much like you would a novel. I was surprised that it read very well. The examples were well placed and greatly helped in understanding what was being presented.

In this date and age, you do not want to trust someone else to give you the right information. You will discover how easy it is to find the right answer, by using the step by little step instructions and examples in this reference book. The hardest part of math formulas is understanding what all of the symbols mean and the necessary steps to work the formula correctly. The goal of this book is to make formulas easy to understand and use. This was done by removing symbols whenever possible and instead show the nesessary step. In most cases only one element, at a time, of an equation has been illustrated, so that you can easily follow the steps taken. Whenever a calcultor is used it even tells you what buttons to push.

You will delighted to know how easy it is to work a math problem that in the past seemed to difficult. Check out the table of contents and you will see that this book address most of the areas in your life that requires a math formula or special number you need.

Description :
Multimedia stands as one of the most challenging and exciting aspects of the information era. Although there are books available that deal with various facets of multimedia, the field has urgently needed a comprehensive look at recent developments in the systems, processing, and applications of image and video data in a multimedia environment. Multimedia Image and Video Processing fills that need.

Beginning with existing standards and their impact on multimedia image and video processing, experts from around the world address a broad spectrum of topics in a tutorial style. Their authoritative contributions cover the pros and cons of current and new architectures, conventional and intelligent image processing techniques, new developments in the compression and coding of video and images, and content-based image and video retrieval.

The book's final chapters examine recent results in multimedia applications, including transcoding for multipoint video conferencing, distance education, video-on-demand and telemedicine. The extremely rapid growth of this field means that books even just a few years old may offer information that is already obsolete. Multimedia Image and Video Processing offers not only recent research and developments, but does so in a way that provides a solid introduction to each topic and builds a basis for future study, research, and development.

Description :
Signal Processing for Telecommunications and Multimedia
Edited by Tadeusz A. Wysocki, Bahram Honary and Beata J. Wysocki

The unprecedented growth in the range of multimedia services offered today by modern telecommunication systems, is possible because of the advancements in signal processing technologies and algorithms.

SIGNAL PROCESSING FOR TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND MULTIMEDIA presents a group of invited contributions, some of which have been based on the papers presented at the 7th International Symposium on DSP for Communication Systems held in Coolangatta on the Gold Coast, Australia, in December 2003. Part I of the book deals with applications of signal processing to transform what we hear or see to the form that is most suitable for transmission or storage for a future retrieval. The first three chapters in this section are devoted to processing of speech and other audio signals. The next two chapters consider image coding and compression, while the last chapter of this part describes classification of video sequences in the MPEG domain.

Part II, consisting of eight chapters, describes the use of signal processing for enhancing performance of communication systems. This enables the most reliable and efficient use of those systems to support transmission of large volumes of data generated by multimedia applications. The topics considered in this part, range from error-control coding through some advanced problems of the code division multiple access (CDMA), to multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems and space-time coding.

The last part of SIGNAL PROCESSING FOR TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND MULTIMEDIA contains seven chapters that present some emerging system implementations, utilizing signal processing to improve system performance and allow for a cost reduction. The issues considered, range from antenna design and channel equalization through multi-rate digital signal processing, to practical DSP implementation of a wideband direct sequence spread spectrum modem.

SIGNAL PROCESSING FOR TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND MULTIMEDIA is structured to meet the needs of a professional audience in industry. This book is also suitable for graduate-level students in computer science and electrical engineering

C# Web Development with ASP.NET: Visual QuickStart Guide

Description
C# was developed from the ground up to serve as the main language for Microsoft's new .NET framework--and to compete with Java. C# Web Development for ASP.NET: Visual QuickStart Guide is aimed at beginning developers who may have experience with scripting languages but are not necessarily experienced with object-oriented languages.

Using task-based examples and hundreds of screenshots, all code examples are presented in the context of ASP.NET development, aimed at Web developers. While C# Web Development for ASP.NET: Visual QuickStart Guide does not attempt to teach everything about the .NET Framework, it clearly explains all you need to know to get up and running with the C# language.

ASP.Net Web Developer's Guide

Description

Aimed at the working ASP developer who wants to move to Microsoft .NET, ASP.NET Unleashed: Web Developers Guide offers an excellent example-based programming tutorial. With its strong practical focus, this title offers an excellent choice for learning ASP.NET quickly.

Most every computer book uses examples illustrating programming concepts, but this text does an exceptional job at efficiently presenting key examples that will be necessary for anyone moving from ASP to ASP.NET. After a brief tour of the history of ASP since version 1.0 and a quick overview of the advantages of ASP.NET, the author turns to essential APIs and programming strategies. Useful material here includes some valuable techniques for working with session and application objects (and new events available with these classes), plus a nicely comprehensive guide to all the XML configuration settings used in ASP.NET and what they're good for. A series of chapters on the built-in ASP.NET (and simpler HTML) server controls will give you a working vocabulary of basic Web programming techniques.

Later chapters explore specific areas of .NET functionality like ADO.NET, XML support (including a solid introduction to the often bewildering world of XML standards and the classes used to manipulate them in .NET). Coverage of Web services shows off this brand-new option for creating distributed Web applications. This volume's final sections present three small, complete applications (for a guest book, shopping cart, and message board). Besides illustrating essential ASP.NET APIs and techniques introduced earlier on, the sample code can serve as a basis to add these features to your custom applications. With such a large number of new ASP.NET APIs to master, this title strikes a great balance between describing essential APIs and real code that shows them at work. In all, its efficient format makes this title a perfect resource for busy working developers who want to get up to speed on the new ASP.NET fast.
